With over 2 million people and 166 countries celebrating Global Running Day today, June 1st, there’s no better time to celebrate alliantgroup’s own running team’s accomplishments! In 2014, alliantgroup runners and walkers began racing a 5k each month and we’re still going strong! We’ve logged 3,107 miles—the distance from Houston to Greenland—taken over 6 million steps, and completed 18 races!

The goal of Global Running Day is to inspire others to adopt a healthy lifestyle and get moving no matter what the activity or distance! So whether you commit to one lap or twenty, get out and run because you will be energized, stronger, and healthier for it!

About the Author:

A native Houstonian, Melanie has always had a passion for health and wellness. After spending the first part of her career in corporate education for LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy), Melanie went back to school to study health and wellness to ultimately obtain her Masters in Exercise Science Health Promotion with a specialty in Wellness Psychology. Melanie loves helping people live their best lives through healthy living and successfully integrating work, family, fun, movement and nutrition. Melanie’s research in workplace wellness led her to develop innovative programming for employer wellness groups at Humana. While there, she wrote large group and special population programming to help Humana’s members find their healthiest ways of living tailored to their specific lifestyle needs. Additionally, she was a national educator for Lifetime Fitness working on programming for Group Fitness, specifically yoga and barre. Melanie has been in the wellness industry for over 10 years and along with wellness programming, she is also a yoga instructor, barre instructor, and meditation teacher.
