alliantgroup Houston Independent School District Elementary Science Teacher Award Winner Deirdre Ricketts and alliantgroup Strategic Advisory Board Member Harold Ford, Jr. appeared together on KPRC-TV’s lifestyle show Houston Life last week.

Houston Life hosts Courtney Zavala and Derrick Shore congratulated the Stevens Elementary School Lead Science Teacher and STEAM Lab Facilitator on her award.

Ricketts is one of six Houston Independent School District elementary science teachers nominated for the inaugural award.  Ricketts will receive a personal award of $3,500 and $500 specifically for her classroom.  Each of the other five nominees will each receive $1,250, plus $500 for their classrooms.

While on Houston Life, Ricketts emphasized the importance of science education for even the youngest students and thanked her parents for all their support.

Ford commended Ricketts for her engaging and innovating teaching methods.  Ford also said hello to his dad, who now lives in Houston!
