alliantgroup Continues Their Relationship with Comp-U-Dopt

alliantgroup professionals volunteered their time to take part in a recent Compudopt computer adoption event at a local Houston school.

Through this program, lightly used, donated corporate computers are given to deserving applicants in the third through eighth grade. The computers have been converted to a Linus operating system and loaded with freeware education programs. In order to qualify, students completed an application and submited an essay demonstrating their need for a computer.

On this particular Saturday, more than 80 students attended a two-hour training session before taking home their new computer.  The laptops will be used by the students for a variety of educational activities that will help harness critical skills and encourage their interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).

Comp-U-Dopt was founded in 2007 with the belief that every child deserves equal access to education and opportunity. Comp-U-Dopt accepts donated computers from companies, organizations and individuals overhauling their technology systems, and refurbishes each unit before delivering them to students without access to a computer at home.

alliantgroup is proud to continue our partnership with Houston-based nonprofit Comp-U-Dopt to put computers into the hands of local students. This partnership is the latest in a growing list of community outreach initiatives sponsored by the Blue Heart Fund, alliantgroup’s nonprofit charity, designed to encourage students to pursue a STEM education at an early age.

Born from alliantgroup’s mission of education and awareness, the firm’s Blue Heart Fund is a nonprofit charity focused on giving back to the community and fostering STEM education across the nation. Along with fundraising for various philanthropic endeavors and promoting STEM education in K-12 schools, the Blue Heart Fund offers generous STEM-based scholarships to students pursuing a career in the field. The Blue Heart Fund is a nonprofit organization.
